Aesthetic Dermatology procedures, which are less invasive than surgery, can treat and correct skin flaws. They offer immediately visible results without the need to take time off work or away from social activities.

Gentle, early intervention is now possible to prevent the first signs of ageing, such as lines and wrinkles, dark spots, redness, rosacea and thinning lips.

Injections of fillers (hyaluronic acid) or botulinum protein, biostimulation by laser treatments, peels, microdermabrasion, and LED may be combined to rejuvenate your skin and correct any factors inhibiting its radiance.

An initial consultation is essential to review each patient’s expectations and define a tailored treatment strategy based on each individual.

BOTOX® is specially formulated with a purified protein, which relaxes the muscles when injected into the targeted area, ultimately reducing the appearance of frown lines and facial wrinkles.   It is the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedure performed at The Dermatology Room.

Is BOTOX® safe?

Botox® has been FDA approved for cosmetic usage since 2002. Only licensed and trained healthcare professionals have the experience necessary to administer BOTOX.

Indications for Neurotoxin Treatments:

  • Frown lines in the forehead
  • Crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes
  • Lipstick lines around the mouth
  • Neck lift and softening of bands
  • Bunny lines
  • Gummy smile
  • Marionette lines
  • Thickened masseters
  • Peau d’orange chin texture
  • Excessive sweating (underarms, hands, feet)

Do the Injections Hurt?

The needles for BOTOX® are very small. Patients are often surprised at how little pain BOTOX® injections cause. A topical anaesthetic cream may be applied to for your comfort.

How frequently can/should I have BOTOX?

BOTOX® can be used every 3-4 months, depending on how the muscles respond.

Who should not have Botox?

Women who are pregnant, breast-feeding or who hope to become pregnant, and people who are taking certain antibiotics, have neuromuscular disorders or an allergy to BOTOX® should not have injections.

Coco Chanel

Whether used to naturally re-sculpt the face, the lips or the hands, reduce wrinkles and lines, correct dark circles or bags or treat sagging skin, hyaluronic acid is favoured for its biocompatible and absorbable composition. This natural filler product helps to offset the reduced amount of hyaluronic acid produced naturally by your skin, owing to ageing.

When men and women come to The Dermatology Room for filler treatments, they are looking to restore their youthful appearance.  We share this sentiment and strive to achieve natural results.

Soft Tissue Filler Indications:
  • Facial folds and wrinkles: Fill nasolabial folds, corners of mouth and hollows under eyes
  • Restore facial volume: Restoration of cheek volume and temples
  • Lip augmentation Lifting the corners of the mouth
  • Facial reshaping: Restoration of stronger chin and jawline

If you’re considering filler treatment but a fear of needles is holding you back, Dr. Lev can use a micro-cannula “injection” to deliver fillers in a new way.  A micro-cannula slides under the skin for an easier placement of dermal fillers.

A micro-cannula is a very thin, tiny, flexible hollow tube with a smooth round tip.  The sharp end is gone!  Instead of many needle sticks, we only need a few to provide entry points for the cannula.  That means fewer needle marks, less pain and far less probability of bruising.

Can I receive Botox at the same time?

Botox and dermal fillers work on different parts of the face, and each produces a unique effect on subdermal tissue. Many patients combine the two to maximize the anti-aging results without losing natural appeal.

The skin should always be supple, fresh, and bathed in hydration. This helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles caused by dehydration. Skin hydration is actually a major part of skincare, which is too often overlooked for the benefit of more advanced anti-ageing techniques.

At The Dermatology Room, we are excited to offer the groundbreaking new skin care concept of Skin Boosters. This hyaluronic acid preparation allows for deep, natural skin hydration.

To maintain and prolong the results of these treatments, we will recommend the best skin care  formulas to keep your skin hydrated every day.

Skin Booster Indications:
  • Tired and dry thin skin
  • Signs of skin aging
  • Acne scarring
  • Thin skin

Peels use a chemical solution to desquamate the treatment area, removing dead skin cells and imperfections, stimulating the renewal of the skin and speeding up its natural cellular regeneration processes, such as elastin, collagen and hyaluronic acid syntheses.

Side Effects of Chemical Peels

Some reddening and swelling of the skin may occur. For some patients, flaking of the skin may also occur.  During the healing response to the peel, new collagen formation is triggered so the skin appears tighter with a healthy “glow.”  To maintain this healthy glow, you may repeat this procedure at regular intervals to keep the skin looking its best.

Treatment Areas

Chemical peels are most commonly used on the face but can be used on other body areas such as the chest, back, shoulders and arms to eliminate lines, freckles, or age spots.  Patients with more extensive sun damage on the legs can also be treated with chemical peels.

DermaFrac™ treatment improves the overall appearance of the skin, and is a lighter alternative to laser resurfacing treatments. Through a process called “micro-needling,” hundreds of tiny needles create pathways for the infusion of a targeted serum, and stimulate a positive natural response by the body which increases collagen and fibroblast activity.

The depth at which the serum is deposited maximizes results. Because micro-needling does not reach deep enough to affect capillaries and nerve endings, there is almost no bleeding or pain.

Applications for DermaFrac Treatment

Depending on the serum used, the following issues can be addressed:

  • Oily skin and acne
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Clogged and/or enlarged pores
  • Scars
  • Hyperpigmentation

Although DermaFrac treatment does not eliminate wrinkling or scarring, it can make it less apparent.

Maintaining DermaFrac Results

It is recommended that initial treatment be performed every 7 to 14 days for a total of six treatments. As DermaFrac is a non-invasive procedure, maintenance treatments are advised for upkeep. The maintenance schedule will be determined based on the issue being addressed.

KYBELLA – Coming Soon

What is Submental Fullness?

Submental fullness or double chin is common in both women and men. It is caused by aging, genetics and weight gain.

How can Kybella treat submental fullness (double chin)?

KYBELLA™ is the first and only FDA-approved non-surgical treatment of moderate to severe submental fullness.

How does Kybella work?

KYBELLA™ is identical to deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of fat. When injected into the skin, the fat cell membrane is disrupted which causes the fat to dissolve. Once destroyed, these cells cannot store or accumulate fat. A series of tiny injections are placed into the fatty areas at each treatment session.

How long until I can see results with Kybella?

Typically, 2 – 4 treatments are administered at 1 month or longer time intervals for optimal cosmetic effect. Results can be seen within weeks of treatment as the body naturally processes and permanently removes the destroyed fat cells.

Benefits of KYBELLA™

  • Permanent results
  • FDA-approved
  • Non-invasive
  • Results seen in weeks
  • Limited recovery
